Annual Summer- Do List

Happy official first week of summer! I love the summer! I love the beach, I love the sun (especially after 21 days of rain in May) and my birthday is in August (turning 30!!). Every year I tend to make a small list of summer goals and things to do and most of it involves something “classic.” There is something special about the summer that just gives me a sense of nostalgia; a yearning for a simpler time before cell phones and social media where you had to use your imagination and you played outside until it was too dark to see. So now every year I attempt to try and recapture that simpler time. Here’s what I have on the list this year:

Summer is my time to catch up on all the classics I somehow wasn’t forced to read in high school...

summer books
summer books

The Girl With All The Gifts - Mike Carey (This is a book club book, but it still counts)

Room - Emma Donoghue (not a classic, but it’s been sitting on my shelf for too long)

The BFG - Roald Dahl (the movie comes out in July!)

The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath

A Separate Peace - John Knowles (I did read this in highschool but I absolutely loved it and want to revisit)

Death of a Salesman - Arthur Miller

There are certain things that just scream summer…

  • Buy ice cream  from the ice cream truck
  • Have a water gun fight
  • Play an old school board game
  • Go on a picnic
